| I have a group of about 3/4"-1" bn and abn fry and was wondering if it blanching is needed on sweet potatoe and zucchini. Also, what is the best items to feed fry for fastest growth. I do not know how old they are. If you would like to take a guess I am all eyes. | |

| The last time I had fry I fed them zucchini unblanched and butternut Pumpkin that was blanched. Also fed them algae wafers. I don't no of any food that will make them grow faster The only thing I found was keeping the water clean with lots Of water changes. | |

| My two BN were just a bit bigger than that when I got them. I personally thought 'everyone' was bonkers saying they eat veggies (even though I'd seem pictures of fry eating veggies), I tried and tried but all they would eat was 'Plecostumus tablet food' - King british.. As they got bigger they started eating the veggies and now are always looking for all the usual suspects.. | |

| i noticed ages ago my BN seem to go wild for a few slices of cucumber covered in garlic, or garlic spread....lol...
though go easy on the spread coz it can make a mess in the tank...lol | |

| to grow your bn's quick you need a large tank, the bigger the setup the bigger the growth rate....i put 5 bn's in my dads 5ft setup just 2 months ago and they are not far off fully grown,,, ....unless its the malawi food they are eating??? As for blanched /un-blanched?? ive always feed unblnached courgette and Hikari wafers nothing else and i have no probz with growth...... only blanch when a veggie is really hard and tough as it will be easier for the bn's to digest...bogwood/driftwood will also help them digest any tough foods they have consumed..... | |
