Something seriously wrong.

Just lost another bristle.
1500L per hour filtration, theres white water rapids in my tank now, and oxygen stone, bristles are still staying near the top, wont touch cucumber. Thought the new filtration and air stone would help as theyre showing signs of 02 deficiency, but i think theres more to it...
Water parameters havnt changed
The local aquarium place checked my waters and said they were fine.
Plants, drift wood, lights, 1000L and 500L cannister filter on either side, air stone in middle.
Temp 25degrees.
I need serious help...

Yes all spread across my other tanks now.
My 2 males are in the tank thats been cycling for 2 weeks, and female is in my 35L betta tank, not ideal but will have to do
Theyre not gasping at the surface now, seem to be a bit more content at the bottom of their new enviros.
Ill test my parameters again and get my friend at the aqaurium to test it too and see if we can figure it out...

It def sounds like they were struggling for air. this could mean two things. the first is that there is less than enough O2 in the tank. that doesnt sound like it is the problem. the second thing is that they are not getting any air cos their gills are damaged. this can happen cos they are burnt by ammonia or chlorine. this will heal if the original chemical that caused the burn is gone.

From the few sleepless nights of research and monitoring ive done the past couple of days ive come to figure out exactly what i did wrong.

So, seachem prime neutralises chlorine and chloramine for a period of 24hrs (what i was using everytime i added water), so once water is added, theres a 24 hr period where water is harmless to fish due to the chemicals, in that 24hrs the chlorine in the water disipates through aeration and the ammonia in the chemical bond of chloramine is broken down through the biofilter so that once the prime has done its job the chlorine and chloramine are little to none.
When my fry came, my 10% water changes became more freqent, not really missing a day, although i was adding chemicals to the water, they werent getting broken down in time so that when the next change occured it was just building up, therefore poisoning my fish.

When i first saw symptoms, me n kabam were discussing and from early symtoms just seemed like O2 deficancy, so that morning went and upgraded both tanks by adding another filter in each (to really get water turning over at the surface) and the O2 stones at the bottom to help oxygenate water, also turned down temp to increase dissolved oxygen levels, and added more plants.
Still fish were dieing even when i moved them into my other tankk (in its last stages of cycling), it wasnt til my albino male started to show symptoms thats i noticed the red gills , and the mucas overlay on his mouth n nose. Thats when i knew it was poisoning. Just what? Nitrate nitrite = 0, ph, 7.5 ( same as always, tap water is a little rich in it) and ammonia was never quite zero, but always below, .25ppm (i beleive this is because the breakdown of chloramine wasnt occuring 100% before the next change),
Sooo by further research i pretty much ruled out everything but chloramine or chlorine poisoning.

What i shouldve done next time is aerate the water im going to use for ny changes for 48hrs, then add prime and kh powder (my kh is low and ph is high to try and get that neutral or a little more acidic water), stir before i put it in my tank and when i get my next batch of fry, ill reduce water changes to 15%-20% every 3 days.

No one to blame but myself, but its really heart breaking to loose the little buddies i had. Luckily still have my little community tank with my albino LF, betta, neons and platies to cheer me up.

I added a double dosage of prime in the tank when i had filters and all air stones aerating water and temp down trying to save my bristles but damage was done.
Think ill just let my tanks cycle for a couple weeks before i even think about replacing them.
Never again.

In regards to using the Kh powder, try using lots of driftwood or peat moss to naturally lower your pH as 1 wrong move with the powders & ka-blewy....

I do WC of 10% daily & 1x30% with gravel vac weekly. I have never had a problem with the chlorine etc, I do use prime & double dose every time.

So when you do a change you used aged water, then before you put it in you double the advised amount of prime before putting it in ?

Nope, i just use straight tap water, straight in with the prime, never had an issue..

In my 4ft grow out i use 5mm gravel
In my LF tank i use sand
in my pepp tank 5-8mm gravel.
