| I'm not sure if the picture uploaded. Can someone advise if my female pleco is gravid or is bloated? She's had a round belly like this for over a month. Her behavior has completely changed from being very active to non-active. She also does not devour the zuchinni as she did in the past or the algae wafers. She used to graze the walls of the aquarium but never does this anymore. She does go for the zuchinni/algae wafer but doesn't finish it as she would before. She would also defend her food from other fish but now she let's them eat the food too. There are several hiding areas for her. I'm not interested in breeding just want to make sure she will be ok. 29 gallon tank 1 female bn pleco 2 Angelfish 2 Buenos Aires Tetra 1 male crowntail betta 3 Otocinulus | |

| yeah, it does look like the start of bloat. I would give the whole tank a week or so of a vege heavy diet. Wont hurt the other fish and will help the bristlenose out. Keep going with the peas. when she get hungry she will eat something, may as well be the pea | |

| thanks for the advice. I thought with bloat the fish would pass in 10 days or so if precautions weren't taken. I took this picture of her yesterday as she seems to be more active. A month ago I noticed her belly was a bit round and had a reddish color. I also saw white stringy poo coming out of her. I applied API General cure and the red color on her belly went away. She's had this round belly for over a month now. Can it still be bloat? | |

| I had the same problem with a male! After I fed them with some high protein food the male got bloated like hell and I taught that I will lose it but stopped feeding for one week and slowly the belly went back to normal. Since that time I'm feeding him only with good pellets and fresh veggies and I have no problems with the fella! Wish you success with your girl!!! | |

| Sadly, my pleco passed away. I couldn't find her for days and then went on a business trip only to come back find the body decomposing. One of my otocinclus fish passed away as well. I couldn't even recognize the body of the pleco which made me sadder. The last time I saw her I took a pic of her enjoying some zucchini. | |
