| I was wondering is it normal for BN fishes to poo all the time, when i wake up, or come home from work there is always pellet poo everywhere its not like i feed them all the time, i think it could be the driftwood they graze...Hence is it a common thing, pain constantly cleaning the tank though, there proberly loving it swimming an sucking in there own poo. :bball: | |

| There is no way around this unfortunately this is the only downside to keeping plec's...... I have to do a gravel vac once a week to keep it under control...and the more plecs and bigger they are the more they crap.. Plenty of gravel vac's will keep it under control for you...even though its a real pain doing it all the time... | |

| There is the usual lots of poo, and then there is extraordinary lots of poo, even for an Ancistrus. I was thinking of posting a similar question myself, as I just bought 3 young L-144 that I am having to vacuum up after every couple of days, not once a week. They seem to be chowing down on the wood more than any others I've had. They seem healthy and active, perfectly normal in every way but for the massive amount of poo they generate. They had been in the shop for a couple of months and evidently the shop keeper had to vacuum every couple of days also; I asked. These look like standard color morph L-144, but I've never read anything about the eating habits of the original L-144, could be these are color morph L-144 with a dash of the original somewhere in their background? That is doubtful, since I'm in the US, but possible I guess. Anybody have any ideas? | |
